MBA in Design Strategy

Developed a line of outdoor fire bowl products made with new techniques in concrete mixtures and molding processes to develop a strong and light weight solution. Led strategic decision making in product design, marketing, and customer relationships. Built a marketing plan and e-commerce strategy. Learned valuable lessons and challenges of starting a company.

Founder

Responsibilities were to design and fabricate building components such as custom doors, stairs and handrails, along with small scale building additions and renovations. Also worked on experiments with modular building construction with shipping containers. Learned skills of project estimating, managing production, and design communication to client through renderings and graphics.

Architectural Designer & Fabricator

Roles involved user researching and interaction design methods to solve problems in the language learning space. Identified opportunities for aligning the user experience across a portfolio of educational products. Focused on solving product challenges for the management and distribution of product licenses across companies as well as analytics tools for tracking user progress.

Senior Interaction Designer

Responsibilities were to create visual representations of designs through renderings, drawings, and graphics to clearly communicate project vision to clients. Learned skills of graphic design and visual communication.

Architectural Designer

In the Mobile Innovation Lab I was responsible for guiding design processes and strategic thinking across a highly collaborative environment of designers. We focussed on organizing the team to solve complex business challenges through innovative mobile concepts that leveraged IBM capabilities and services. I helped to mentor designers on mobile design best practices. My top priority was to build a collaborative environment that encouraged experimentation and constant rapid prototyping.

Design Strategy Lead

Accomplishments involved learning advanced digital fabrication methods. My responsibilities were to instruct students on proper tool operation, enforce safety, and assist in project construction. This position required the operation of all lab machinery, including digital machinery, as well as basic machinery maintenance.

I was responsible for leading a team of 5 designers to build a design system for the Traveler mobile experience. My focus was on guiding the overall design strategy, iterating on concepts, and collaborating with engineers to build an intuitive mobile experience.

Instructed students and team in idea design, visual communication and prototyping. Was promoted to management position after displaying three years of strong work ethics as a lab assistant.

As Group Design Director, I lead a team of directors and managers to staff and operate a team that spanned 8 countries and supported 5 business units. Managed a global design system that supported multiple products across Expedia Group, and contributed to the Vrbo rebrand in 2019. Participated in defining a new identity for the Vrbo brand within the product.

Managed the traveler design team, and grew the team from 10 to 23 designers over 2 years. Lead product strategy planning, and organized workshops to envision future products for the travel industry. Worked on building a culture of constructive critique to help us all grow to execute at our best.
