Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer (Automation + Manual)

Location: Pune (WFO)

Experience Required: 6 to 8 Years

Job Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust test automation frameworks and test suites across web and API layers. This role requires a strong foundation in both manual and automated testing practices, with the ability to lead testing efforts, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement in quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, Rest Assured, and TestNG or Gauge 

• Develop and execute test cases for functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing across web and API platforms.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA leads to understand requirements and translate them into test strategies.

• Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI, Jenkins) to support automated test execution and reporting 

• Conduct code reviews for automation scripts and ensure adherence to best practices.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

• Perform manual testing, when necessary, especially during regression cycles or exploratory testing phases.

• Mentor junior QA engineers and provide guidance on automation best practices.

• Generate detailed test reports and metrics to communicate test coverage and quality status.

  
  

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Selenium, Rest Assured, TestNG, Gauge, or similar tools 

• Proficiency in Java or Python for writing automation scripts.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

• Experience with version control systems like Git and test management tools like TestRail or Xray.

• Familiarity with Docker containers and executing tests in containerized environments.

• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in sprint-based development cycles.

• Good analytical and debugging skills with a keen eye for detail.

• Knowledge of BDD frameworks like Cucumber or JBehave is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

• ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus.

• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter) is an advantage.
