I played a pivotal role in a dynamic and rapidly expanding startup, spearheading the development of a cutting-edge React front-end while enhancing the functionality of the existing Magento platform. My responsibilities encompassed crafting and executing a comprehensive product roadmap, adeptly overseeing a team, delivering tangible value, and fostering effective communication to drive the company's growth. Additionally, I was responsible for crafting custom APIs, leveraging Lambda functions, and seamlessly integrating with suppliers and other mission-critical business systems.

Tech/Platform Lead

In this role, I took on a multifaceted responsibility that encompassed pitching, estimating, crafting proposals, and engaging in client-facing meetings. My collaborative efforts with the team resulted in the successful development of six award-winning websites for NZPG in 2018. Moreover, I assumed the role of lead developer for two prominent projects: the New Auckland Libraries website and the Brand Repository for Auckland Council. These high-profile endeavors exemplified our commitment to rigorous cross-browser and device testing, with a strong focus on ensuring accessibility.

Beyond these achievements, I played a pivotal role in enhancing Goodfolk's digital offerings by implementing innovative tools, streamlining processes, and providing training to staff. Additionally, I injected some creative fun into the studio by creating Slack bots and apps, showcasing our commitment to both professional excellence and an enjoyable work environment.

Technical Director

As an Interface Developer, I specialised in creating intricate navigation systems using Flash, adding depth and interactivity to websites.

I was a staunch advocate for web accessibility, ensuring that the websites I designed were user-friendly for all, fostering inclusivity.

I adeptly navigated the challenges of legacy browsers, notably Internet Explorer 6, to maintain compatibility and deliver a seamless user experience.

My dedication to front-end excellence led me to diverse web projects, each an opportunity for creativity and user-centric design. As I reflect on my journey, I'm grateful for the chance to harmonise technology with user needs, shaping memorable digital experiences.

Interface Developer

As the head of digital development and production, I assumed leadership over a proficient team of developers while spearheading critical functions such as pitching, estimating, and proposal creation. In this client-facing role, my primary emphasis was on front-end development, ensuring our technical solutions seamlessly aligned with our clients' needs and expectations.

In my capacity as a frontend developer, I held the role of lead developer at IAG, where I had the privilege of contributing to their brand websites, including flagship platforms like ami.co.nz and state.co.nz. My responsibilities extended beyond traditional development, as I actively engaged in mentoring and training team members while also spearheading innovative projects. One notable achievement was the creation of a self-service prototype, poised to significantly streamline the time and cost associated with launching new features and services to market.

Within this role, I had the opportunity to craft an array of compelling features, including captivating widgets, interactive calculators, intuitive Google Maps API interfaces, and engaging animation-rich webpages. Additionally, I participated in the Gov Hack initiative, where our IAG team effectively applied Agile and Lean methodologies, ultimately clinching victory in the Auckland competition.

In my capacity as a senior developer, I collaborated closely with a diverse clientele as well as the talented Goodfolk team to consistently deliver high-value, top-quality websites, applications, and marketing automation solutions. My commitment to continuous improvement extended beyond technical tasks; I actively fostered a culture of learning within the team. This was evidenced by my frequent knowledge-sharing sessions where I shared insights and experiences, contributing to the collective growth and expertise of our team.

During my time as a web developer, I had some incredible experiences. I remember jetting off to Barcelona to lend a hand with event management and photography – talk about an unforgettable adventure!

In the world of web development, I always strived to add that extra touch. Whether it was crafting custom galleries or integrating unique features into our websites, I loved pushing the boundaries of what we could achieve online.

Working closely with the event director was a highlight for me. Communication was key to ensuring our projects went off without a hitch. It was a great opportunity to collaborate and make sure everything aligned perfectly.

In my capacity as a senior full-stack developer at Colenso BBDO, I have had the privilege of spearheading numerous high-profile projects, encompassing websites and web applications. My responsibilities have extended to configuring high-traffic servers, harnessing the cutting-edge technologies to engineer web applications that seamlessly function across diverse browsers and devices. Additionally, I've undertaken the development of extensive websites utilising the versatile frameworks of React, Laravel, and SilverStripe.

Notably, I took on the role of lead developer on several of these projects, further showcasing my ability to provide technical leadership and guidance in delivering successful outcomes for our clients.

My role was instrumental in the company's transformation, positioning them as international contenders within their market. This transformation involved a multifaceted approach, encompassing the development and execution of impactful marketing campaigns, the creation of sophisticated pricing calculators, and the expansion of their product portfolio.

Leadership: I run daily development stand-up meetings, offer guidance, mentorship, and organise developer training sessions. This has helped build a stronger and more skilled development team.

Process Improvement: I’ve worked to better our development processes, especially in setting up effective code review protocols. This has sped up our development delivery and made our tech stack more efficient.

Project Work: Besides leading and improving processes, I've also worked actively on project tasks at Funraisin. I've helped create and improve dashboard interfaces, leaderboards, profile pages, interactive maps, and other custom work. This hands-on work has let me apply my technical skills and work closely with the team to meet our project goals, making my role as Tech Lead more enriching and effective.
