Conducted advanced research on band gap predictions in materials science, focusing on applications of graph neural network (GNN) architectures to enhance prediction accuracy on Materials Project Dataset.
Designed extensive experiments using PyTorch on existing GNN, specifically the Crystal Graph Convolutional Neural Network (CGCNN) model, and explored the limitations of the 3-body representation of quantum structures in tensors.
Proposed novel architecture, Crystal-X, by performing edge-centric convolutions to predict band-gaps; achieved an improvement of over 30% over baseline implementation.
