Design of Experiments using a 2k factorial design for surfac

The aim of this project was to investigate the potential of using a lattice structure to design an aerofoil for light-flying vehicles like UAVs (Unmanned Air Vehicles). The wing was designed with a two-skin type structure with a lattice in between the skins. The material used for this was Nickel-Titanium, commonly known as Nitinol. Nitinol exhibits a phenomenon known as superelasticity. This project aims to combine the strength and superelasticity phenomenon of Nitinol so that it can be exploited to design an aerofoil capable of bending under the application of stress. Using a lattice structure enables this as this phenomenon is dependent on the geometry of the object. The RMT method chosen to for DFAM was Selective Laser Melting (SLM) as it can ensure low porosity while manufacturing as compared to Direct electrode deposition and Electron Beam Melting. The CAD model was designed on Solidworks. The stress analysis was done on Ansys Workbench Static Structural while using a steady state thermal model.

Design and Simulation Study of Morphing Airfoil with Lattice

The aim of this project was to study is to cover the effectiveness of different electrode materials in machining and how wear occurs. Parameters like electrode material, input heat, and tool profile were studied for their contribution to tool wear. Thermal studies of electrode and workpiece material will be done using a transient thermal model to determine the effects of high temperature on the electrode.

Graphene and Graphene Oxide have only recently come under the spotlight as lubricant choices for many industrial applications as they can take a high shear load and provide good tribological and thermal properties. Mixing nanoparticles with various industrial lubricants will help improve the properties of those lubricants while keeping them economical to produce and buy for various applications. Graphene additives also provide a more environmentally friendly choice due to their production process. Graphene can provide a wear resistance that is much greater than currently available solid lubricants while the liquid part of the mixture ensures low shear forces and can easily be replenished. This review seeks to cover the use of graphene and graphene oxide nano additives and how they improve the physical properties of existing lubricants by studying the wear properties of graphene and graphene oxide nano structures at the nano and macro scale.
