Full Stack Development Intern

Built new NLP services from scratch

- Developed an in-house resume parsing system (capable of parsing Institution and classifying it, GPA, skills, experience)
- Improved the processing as well as querying speed on over 1MN+ resumes through database and caching techniques; brought down query time to sub-second latency.

- Designed and developed an English spelling and grammatical error - detection and correction system using core NLP techniques; researched on possible accuracy improvements using LSTMs
- Benchmarked with Grammarly and human-proofreaded text and achieved over 73% accuracy.

Worked for a small early-stage startup, part-time within institute

- Researched on Eventual Consistency in Distributed Systems - formalized benchmarks on various frameworks available
- Implemented the Needle In Hackstack concept to build a highly performant image storage and retrieval service (based on filesystems, not database) - accomplished sub-second latency query time over XFS
- Learnt functional programming using Erlang and Elixir - and constituted microservice templates
- Set up Kafka as the central message broker of the system - and set up the PubSub model using brod, the Erlang client
- Implemented business logic POC using Phoenix web framework
