During my studies, I demonstrated for Robotics, Web Application Development and Languages and Computability courses. As part of this, I supervised the practical sessions and answered any questions that the students had.

Software Engineer

During my studies, I have been part of a small research team developing a software platform that collects data from social media channels, blogs and news sites and runs natural language processing algorithms on it to assist Food Standards Scotland in policymaking.

Technologies: Java (Hibernate), Gradle and MSSQL.

Software Development Research Assistant

I was a software engineer and technical lead at Cloudreach, the leading cloud solutions provider. My team was responsible for delivering part of a cloud management platform that can assist customers throughout their cloud journey.

As the technical lead, I was responsible for interviewing candidates; on-boarding new starts; mentoring and upskilling team members; working with our project and product manager to plan future milestones and ensuring that these are delivered on time and as expected; leading certain scrum ceremonies; delivering demos to stakeholders; and working with technical leads from other projects and the QA and security teams to ensure the software integrated well and passed quality and security controls.

As a software engineer I wrote, tested, reviewed, deployed and maintained code; designed new features and took part in design discussions; built and maintained our CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure; wrote technical and user documentation; and wrote and refined ticket

Cloud Developer

I joined NES Digital Service, currently NES Technology Service, to help implement Scotland's Digital Health and Care Strategy set out in 2018, part of which involves the development of a “National Digital Platform” for healthcare in Scotland. In my time at NDS I have been involved in designing, building, and operating various products and services:

◆ ReSPECT, which aims to digitise a process facilitating clinicians having discussions with patients about their anticipatory care plan.

◆ SMS Shielding Service, a service that helped vulnerable citizens to shield themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling them to request groceries, deliveries of vitamin-D, priority online grocery delivery, and information through SMS.

◆ The developer platform for the National Digital Platform, on which both platform services and internally developed products are built, deployed and operated.

◆ Access controls for the National Digital Platform, composed of  authentication, authorization and audi

Senior Software Engineer

During my placement at SeeByte, the leader in software for unmanned maritime systems, I worked on enhancing the autonomy features of underwater robots.

I have designed, implemented and tested a number of high-impact features, fixed bugs, helped improve the deployment infrastructure, reviewed code and wrote technical documentation.

Technologies: C++ with Boost, CMake, ROS, Python, Git, Bash and Jenkins.
