Coding, Writing, and Dreaming — This month redefined my potential.
When this year started, I laid out plans for the things and goals I wanted to accomplish.
As always, I set ambitious goals — so much so that I typically complete between 40 and 70 percent of them. Every year followed this pattern, but when I opened my journal this year, I was unhappy.
You see, no one wants to feel like a failure, but I’m the one who puts myself in this situation. Hence, I had to do something about it.
A few months back, my team and I presented a successful demo of an upcoming product to business stakeholders. They asked a few questions and were pleased with our answers, our presentation, and the problems we are solving for customers.
In July, I got certified in one of the toughest Google Cloud examinations that I had prepared and planned for. I worked immensely hard to achieve this certification. It definitely gave my career a significant boost.
Around the end of July, I also secured a freelance writing gig for a company based in the UK. I was tasked with writing about their software products, which was a great experience. I had never done a writing project for a big tech company before, so this was a first.
The biggest dream of all was to buy a flat for my parents, especially for my dad, who had some serious health concerns this year. I was happy that I could bring happiness to my parents, who have worked tremendously hard for my sister and me.
Then came…
While I had just completed one year in my current organization, I had a good working experience. My manager was happy, my manager’s manager was happy, and I was happy — though not entirely content.
This is where I took on a freelance coding project, developing an e-commerce website for a client in the US. I’m doing this to learn and use new technologies I haven’t worked with before.
I’ve been extremely busy with the project. While I love being challenged, there are times I question why I took it on — but it remains exciting.
I have some ambitious plans. I’m not sure if I can complete them all, but we have to have big goals, don’t we?
Here on Peerlist, I have pledged to write on article per week, so let's see how it goes. This article counts for one, by the way. 👀
This year has been good so far, and I’d love to finish it on a special note.
If this article provided you with value, please consider buying me a coffee — only if you can afford it.
