Hey Peerlist 👋
I'm Derrick, and I built Chime because I kept missing important meetings despite having them in my calendar, Apple Reminders, AND sometimes in Todoist.
The Problem
I'd set meetings in my calendar, create reminders, add tasks in Todoist... then proceed to miss ALL of them because I was hyper-focused on some work.
Those tiny notification banners? They'd appear for 5 seconds while I was deep in design/code and vanish into the void. When I'm in DND mode or even full screen mode of some apps, this gets worse. The problem wasn't that I was disorganized...polite notifications just don't work for my brain.
If you've ever thought "wait, that was TODAY?!", you're not alone!
What Makes Chime Different
Chime is a unified time-based productivity assistant that takes over your entire screen with impossible-to-miss alerts for:
✅ Calendar meetings (iCloud, Google, Outlook, Exchange)
✅ Apple Reminders (time-based reminders with due times)
✅ Todoist tasks (tasks with deadlines. This is an optional integration)
The Alert You Can't Ignore
🔴 Full-screen takeover - Not a banner. Not a popup. Your ENTIRE screen becomes the alert (see demo video)
⏰ Smart timing - Default 5 minutes before video calls, 3 minutes before regular events (This is fully customizable up to 1 minute before the calls, by the way.)
🎵 Non-startling and ADHD-friendly sounds - 5 soothing alert sounds that rotate automatically to prevent habituation (when your brain starts ignoring the same notification)
🔒 Privacy-first - Everything runs locally on your Mac. No calendar data, reminders, or tasks ever leave your device.
Who This Is For
While I built this for my own forgetful brain, it turns out a lot of people struggle with time-blindness sometimes:
Developers in deep focus mode
Designers in creative flow
Remote workers juggling back-to-back Zoom calls
Students with assignments and virtual classes
Anyone who's ever joined a meeting late and blamed "technical difficulties" 😅
Key Features of Chime

What I'd Love Feedback On
Event types - Should I add support for Asana, Linear, or Notion?
Alert timing - Is 5 minutes too early/late? (It's customizable, but curious about defaults)
Recurring patterns - What other patterns beyond hourly/daily/weekly/monthly would help?
Todoist integration - How's the setup experience? Should I add more task apps?
Early Feedback from TestFlight Users
I shared an early version with friends and communities (total 121 Test Flight testers) and got messages and tweets like:
💬 "This is the first reminder system that actually works for my brain"
💬 "I finally made it to my appointment on time"
💬 "Literally my favorite app atm!"
💬 "i love this. looks like meeter but i think it’s way better for because of the alert"
💬 "This app has one of the best UX i've come across."
💬 "Chime's background sound during setup...🔥"

If you've ever felt like a failure because you can't remember things that are "right there in your calendar", this is for you.

Thanks for checking out Chime! I'm here all day to answer questions, take feedback, and probably nervously refresh this page way too many times. 😅

P.S. - If you've ever joined a meeting 10 minutes late, heard "oh there you are!", and mumbled something about "technical difficulties"... you need this. 😉
