Google just dropped some bangers at Google I/O
From updates to Search and Gemini, to new tools like Veo 3 and Flow, there’s a lot happening. If you missed the keynote, here’s a quick recap of the most exciting stuff.
The new Gemini 2.5 Flash is faster, lightweight, and better across reasoning, multimodality, code, and long context. It’s now available for preview in the Gemini app, AI Studio, and Vertex AI.
Gemini 2.5 Pro is also getting an upgrade with Deep Think mode, available to trusted testers.
Search is getting a big upgrade with AI Mode. It can now handle longer, more complex questions using advanced reasoning.
It’s already rolling out to users in the US. With this level of reasoning built into Search, should Perplexity be worried?
Google launched Veo 3, its new state-of-the-art video generation model. It now includes native audio generation and the results look almost like real movie scenes.
To go with it, Google also introduced Flow, a new film-making tool that combines the best of Veo, Imagen, and Gemini. It’s designed for creators and available now for Google AI Pro and Ultra plan users.
Real-time translation in Google Meet now matches your tone and speaking style, so conversations feel more natural across languages.
Agent Mode is coming to the Gemini app. It helps you get more done across the web, acting more like a real digital assistant.
Google also rolled out a new multi-tasking version of Project Mariner to Ultra subscribers in the US, and computer use features are coming soon via the Gemini API.
Personal smart replies are coming to Gmail. Gemini can now write replies in your voice, pulling details from across your Google apps.
This will start rolling out in the coming weeks.
Google and HP are launching Google Beam, a new tech that transforms 2D video into realistic 3D in real time. It features near-perfect head tracking at 60 frames per second.
The result is an immersive video call experience.
Google shared a crazy stat: last year, they processed 9.7 trillion tokens per month across products and APIs.
Now? They’re at 480 trillion per month.
That’s a 50x jump in just one year.
Google’s back in the AI game with some promising launches and this time, they might be coming for everyone.
