Day 3/21 - Increase The Revenue of an Airline by Abhishek Paatni

My Thoughts on this Challenges.

Many Airlines around the world are already trying their best to sell ancillary services like extra baggage, premium seats and more. It's a waste of time for me make some suggestion for the same while users are checking out on the app.

My Insights

  • While Economy generates the bulk of revenue through volume, it has lower profit margins.

  • Business Class, despite lower volume, generates disproportionately high revenue per seat.

  • Premium Economy is growing and is still developing in India where I live.

  • Business and first class contribute the most to the airlines according to Qunit reports.

Thats why the segment I should focus on are Business class and above only.

But these business and first class people are already having the time of their life. What more can a airline do for them? Hmmm... TIME

The answer is Time. According to my investigation, most business people have who don't have an assistant find it a waste of time and a hassel to manage their travel themself.

Even people traveling in first class have TMC (Travel Management Company's Agent)

What if, airline apps provide a personal TMC that helps the busy businessmen or their assistants book a flight asap via chat on subscription basis.

So, let me present TMai = TM(Travel Management) + Ai. A concept for airlines to make money from their customers, outside of their flight hours.

That is what I did, after all in the brief selling ancillary services was just a suggestion and not a set in stone direction that many of you reading this have move forward with.

As a product designer, I believe that I should focus on understanding problems then think about how can I even solve it. It's never about following on path as it is set in stone to solve a problem.
