Over the last four years, I’ve stepped into Kirana Shops and Mandis in India—listening, watching, learning and observing from my users in the Agri ecosystem. This journey inspired my Field Guide for UX Research in Bharat—a collection of methods, templates, and cultural cues tailored for users belonging to Bharat's Agri Ecosystem. Born from countless conversations, field visits, and failed prototypes, I wrote this for designers who, like me, once felt lost. This could be your starting point.
Inside the Field Guide you’ll find:
Behaviour‑first recruitment frameworks
Shadowing, artefact‑dive, and intercept templates
Culturally tuned planning tools and field‑ready forms
My hard‑won learnings (and un‑learnings) from the field
I’ve also shared the story behind this field guide here, along with some design insights I discovered over time here: https://medium.com/design-bootcamp/designing-for-bharat-a-field-guide-to-inclusive-ux-in-rural-agri-tech-ecosystems-in-india-14a22fc42112
This guide started as something I needed for myself—if it helps even one more person navigate this space more meaningfully, I’ll be glad.
If you read it, I’d love your thoughts, suggestions, or just a note to say how you used it.
