Every document you've ever read. Every video you've watched. Every screenshot you've taken. What if you could search all of it instantly, ask questions about any of it, and get answers that point you back to the exact source?
That's Recall.OS.
Drop your files in - PDFs, videos, audio recordings, images, markdown notes. Recall.OS processes everything locally on your machine, breaks it down into searchable knowledge, and lets you query it all in plain English. Ask a question. Get an answer. Every answer comes with citations that link directly to the page number, the timestamp, the exact paragraph it came from. Click it. Verify it. Trust it.
No cloud uploads. No subscriptions. No data harvesting. Your files never leave your device. The entire search index lives in a local SQLite database on your machine. Currently powered by Google's Gemini API with your own key - and a universal API adapter is on the way, so you'll soon be able to choose from multiple providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and local models based on your privacy and performance preferences. You control the connection, the cost, and the data flow.
Under the hood, Recall.OS pairs vector similarity search with full-text keyword search and merges results using reciprocal rank fusion - so it finds what you're looking for even when you can't remember the exact words. Scanned PDFs get OCR'd automatically. Videos and audio get transcribed with timestamps. Set up a watched folder and new files get indexed the moment they appear.
