Who are you?

When someone asked, “Who are you?”

It would be simple enough to respond with your name. This is really simple question, is it? Or is it not?

“I am a Developer.”

“I am a Guitarist.”

“I am a Believer.”

“I am just a simple average person.”

On spur of moment, we start thinking how to come up with a quick answer for that rhetorical question.. and sometimes we also come up with more than one ( like our Peerlist bio ) 😉

What is lost on many people is how they, as individuals, also have a brand.

A brand is nothing but the promise of an experience.

You have a way you see yourself, and you might wonder if others see you the same way. How people view you is the first piece of your personal brand.

It’s easy to overlook the idea that we’re creating an “experience” for others, but we all know how our personality and reputation can impact those around us. This is where your personal brand starts. Unlike businesses that can rely on fancy PR and ads, most of us build our brand through the way we interact with people every day.

In a job interview, your resume is the first glimpse of your personal brand. During the interview, you get the chance to shape that brand even more. Think of your brand as a promise to your future employer - they’re looking for assurance that you can deliver on what you say.

Just like businesses strive to meet customer expectations in areas like service and quality, you need to show that you can meet your employer’s expectations. It’s all about building trust and proving that you’re worth the investment.

Defining yourself can be tough, whether you’re journaling, answering interview questions, or just trying to feel happier. To really share who you are with others, you first need to understand it for yourself.

Everyone has a different take on what makes a person, but you can start by looking at a few key parts of yourself: your skills, passions, personality, and values. These elements can help you figure out who you truly are - Your Brand.

Peace out. ✌️
