The Death of Corporate Jargon

Because "Synergy" never gets the job done

The Death of Corporate Jargon

Corporate culture introduced very many things to the workplace but the one I despise the most? Corporate jargon. It is finally dying out and honestly? I'm glad to see it go.

I'm no stranger to using the workplace vocab (guilty as charged!) but its beginning to fill conversation with no intention to get the message across. What once passed as “professional communication” is now just noise. If it takes Google to understand you, you're not communicating. You're performing.

We’re experiencing jargon fatigue and it is actively blocking communication. Why ask “what’s your bandwidth” when you really mean “can you get it done?” We’re people, not Wi-Fi. And in the spirit of keeping it real, we're saying more with less.

This isn’t just about words. It’s about a cultural shift. One where sensitivity, honesty and saying “I don’t know” embraces the humanness of conversations and understanding. We’re trading the illusion of ability for actual connection.

Smart companies are catching on. And let’s be real, it’s good for business. Jargon confuses people and clogs collaboration. Plain language? That builds trust, saves time and actually gets things done.

So let's not circle back. Let's break the circle instead. Say what you mean. Say it like a human. And please for the love of all that’s agile, never utter “touch base” again.

RIP corporate jargon. You won’t be missed.

What's one phrase you won't miss? Let me know :)
