At the core of captrice is a smart metronome that captures and keeps track of tempo (speed) and duration during your practice sessions. This data can then be visualized. It features a library of ready-made exercises that users can import. Users may also create their own exercises, based on their skill level and what they find particularly challenging. The ergonomically designed metronome is easily controlled using keyboard shortcuts while playing the instrument.
I've been playing guitar for more than 20 years, though I'm only a hobbyist at present. I built captrice to solve my own stuggle - to make sure that my guitar practice is deliberate and meaningful i.e. something that will improve my skills, rather than just spending precious time "noodling" within my comfort zone. Captrice proves to be effective due to three reasons:
1. Curated exercises eliminate indecision about what to pratice,
2. The data-capturing metronome brings a sense of target-oriented-ness to the practice sessions and,
3. Beautiful, intuitive data visualizations fuel motivation in the long term
Captrice works in any browser on PC and mobile phone. All data is stored in the users' browsers. It's completely free to use, without any ads, and doesn't require you to signup. Paid plans that will offer premium features, such as data synchronization between devices, tools for guitar teacher etc. are underway.
Do give it a try if you happen to play the guitar, or share it with your friends who do.
