Sandy's Kitchen 🍝

Waiting for an Uber rickshaw on a busy Saturday afternoon turned out to be a surprising experience.

My hands were full, literally, with bags packed from a successful grocery run. As I stood there, my mind was racing through the day's savings.

"₹739 for a kilo of almonds? ₹75 for 500 grams of farsan? That’s a steal!"

I thought, feeling a surge of pride in my ability to find good deals. My inner voice reveled in the idea that my parents—especially my dad—would be proud of my thrifty shopping skills.

Well, Hungry and away from home since 10 a.m., I was welcomed into a kitchen-cum-restaurant after a much-needed negotiation for a half plate of chicken masala thali. I had to oblige because no one from the Uber community of auto drivers wanted to pick me up that day.

As you have already understood from the agenda of the article - I LIKED the food. So no this is not a food review.

But, the environment of a business and the negotiations were revealed to me, and they were amazing.

"10th is the day for my EMIs, any day after 13th but cannot promise any day before that. " - said Sandy's Owner.
- while handing over some money to beggar walking by.

"Interesting" - I thought.

I was introduced to a world of running a business on the ground, not in fancy offices. On a personal level, in life, we are constantly negotiating, whether it’s over money, time, or something intangible. Sometimes we engage openly; other times, we walk away. But in every instance, we grow.

We all are growing, negotiating with life on different levels, one day at a time.

PS:
My dad said, “Seekh gayi bhav karna (You’ve finally learned to negotiate),” but I feel like that’s still a far-fetched dream.

Oh, and I enjoyed “my life’s bessst.... okay, recent favorite "Schezwan Chutney + Noodles” for free later that day from Sandy's owner. That's all him.
