I run a competitor monitoring tool called ChampSignal. One of its features tracks news articles about your competitors every day.
I kept thinking... what if I pulled out just the news search part and made it free for anyone? No signup, no credit card, just results. Good for getting the word out about ChampSignal, and actually useful on its own.
So I built it :D
How it works
Type in any company URL (like figma.com). It searches thousands of news sources and returns up to 10 articles from the last 30 days. Each result comes with:
- The headline
- A short AI-generated summary
- The source and publication date
- A direct link to the full article
Paste a URL. Get news. Done.
Why it's better than Google Alerts
Google Alerts miss a ton of coverage. They mostly catch big outlets and skip niche blogs, industry sites, and smaller publications. And half the time they send you stuff that's not even relevant.
This tool uses AI-powered search (built on Exa AI) to dig deeper. It finds articles that actually mention the specific company, not just keyword matches from unrelated pages.
Who it's for
- Founders checking what competitors are up to
- Anyone doing quick company research before a sales call, pitch, or partnership
- People tired of setting up Google Alerts that never deliver
Tech stack
SvelteKit, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, DaisyUI, Exa AI
What's next
This handles one-time searches. If you need daily monitoring across news, website changes, social media, ads, and more, that's what the full ChampSignal product does. Hopefully some of you check it out. But even on its own, this free tool does the job.
