I'm a keen surfer who lives near the Gold Coast in Australia, one of the worlds premier surfing destinations. I came up for the idea for Swell Diary after I started getting YouTube notifications of daily surf videos from the exact same surf breaks and days I had surfed.

Swell diary is a curated list of daily surf videos from the best breaks and swells found on YouTube. There are hundreds of raw, daily surf videos uploaded to YouTube each month but I wanted to organise them as a kind of historical archive in a diary like format.

In the future I plan on adding features like maps and swell visualisations plus community features like tags which session you surfed.
