π Komorebi for Roche β Innovating for a sustainable future! As part of the Hackfestival in Mannheim, we embraced the challenge of decarbonizing the planet. Our POC was designed to transform sustainability for Roche by creating an ecosystem of solutions, acting as a βone-stop-shopβ for all things sustainable. Our solution? Just like KOMOREBI means in japanese the light that filters through the leaves of trees, KOMOREBI for Roche is built to meet individual needs, adapted to how each employee works, and evolving as those needs change. With a cross-functional team, I was focusing more on creating the Pitch Deck (75% of it was on Figma) the UX of the app and preparing our 5 minute Pitch, while we had Mark on Back-End, Azeem and Malik on Front-end, Bohdan managing everyone's stress and creativity, and Andre Dantas as an Architect and great person to brainstorm with in all aspects of the solution! Within 36 hours, we had a working prototype with big potential in reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions, by actively engaging and empowering the employees for both individual and collective action. This solution can soon be tested in a Roche environment with proper customization, helping Roche take real steps toward a greener future. As with any hackathon, with limited time, we developed three impactful features: a CO2-efficient meeting booking system, a SmartZone workspace optimizer, and a community-driven platform. The meeting system helps employees choose the most efficient rooms based on their needs, while the SmartZone system helps save energy by only using necessary workspaces. The community platform allows employees to pitch ideas, take on green challenges, and earn incentive points, making sustainability a team effort at Roche. A dashboard enabled employees to see their direct impact on CO2 saved through meetings, joined challenges, and more! Information is key!
