A new era in electronics is opening with the introduction of field-effect transistors that are fabricated using solution-processed organic semiconductors (OFETs). However, before this type of electronic devices can be used in real circuits, models that can accurately predict their electronic behaviour have to be developed.
Unlike in the case of board-level designs composed of discrete components, it is not practical to breadboard integrated circuits before manufacturing. The high costs of photolithographic masks and other manufacturing prerequisites make it essential to design the circuit to be as close to perfect as possible before the integrated circuit is first built. The industry-standard is to simulate the circuit with Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) application to verify circuit operation at the transistor level before committing to manufacturing of an integrated circuit.
The aim of this project is to fabricate, characterise and model low voltage OFETs using SPICE circuit simulation program
