Vestwell's platform serves a diverse clientele, including financial advisers, employers, third-party administrators, financial institutions, payroll providers, government agencies, and individual savers.
Vestwell’s payroll integrations engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer with demonstrated experience creating and consuming REST APIs using Python or other object-oriented languages to enable communication between Vestwell’s systems and those of our partners.
The ideal candidate will be experienced working within a kanban development team, writing well-tested, maintainable and clean code and collaborating day to day with stakeholders on our product and operations teams.
Can balance detail-oriented tasks with long term strategy and scale initiatives.
Prioritize sustainable development, meaning that you can deliver value quickly but not at the expense of code sustainability.
Work strategically to avoid tech debt and are constantly looking for the better way.
Create and maintain software enabling internal and external API integrations using Python
Follow best practices in code to build maintainable, low-complexity software which adheres to common programming principles
Work with stakeholders including our Product and Operations teams to support their product development needs
Review requirements and translate into an executable development plan, breaking down projects to enable iterative and agile implementation
Provide production support. We do not have after-hours on-call support, but do support our products during business hours with a rotating schedule.
The Necessities
2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
Demonstrated experience building out REST APIs in Python or another language
Experience working with a RDBMS like PostgreSQL
Ability to collaborate while working on a team and find the best solutions
Understanding of git
The Extras
Experience working at a company founded in the past 5-10 years
Experience writing unit and automated acceptance tests
Experience with UI technologies such as React. Our team works on internal and external facing UIs, and, while we don’t expect frontend experience with this role, it’s a plus!
Experience provisioning AWS cloud services using Terraform
Building pipelines in Jenkins or another CI tool
The expected salary range for this position is $120K-135K , $114K-$128.250K for Austin.
