The AI Product Development Intern supports Synoptek’s AI product initiative by contributing to the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered software solutions. This role partners with a small product and engineering team to translate early-stage concepts into functional, production-minded capabilities while operating within enterprise security, reliability, and governance requirements
Contribute to end-to-end AI product development activities including ideation, technical design, implementation, testing, and iteration.
Develop, experiment with, and evaluate AI workflows using large language models, agents, retrieval techniques, and orchestration patterns.
Implement backend and/or frontend software features aligned with product priorities and technical direction.
Translate product requirements into user stories, prototypes, and functional deliverables.
Incorporate enterprise considerations such as data security, access controls, auditability, reliability, and user workflows into solution design.
Document technical decisions, tradeoffs, evaluation outcomes, and delivered features to support knowledge sharing and continuity.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders in planning, review, and refinement sessions.
Demonstrate ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables from concept through completion.
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related discipline preferred.
In lieu of formal education, equivalent hands-on experience through academic projects, startups, internships, or independent development will be considered
Customarily has hands-on experience with software development through coursework, projects, internships, or equivalent practical exposure.
Exposure to AI/ML concepts, applied experimentation, or product-focused development environments preferred.
Experience working in ambiguous, early-stage problem spaces is a plus.

Strong programming capability in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages.
Familiarity with APIs, web architectures, and basic systems design principles.
Exposure to modern AI tooling including prompting, evaluation methods, retrieval-augmented generation, or agent frameworks preferred.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and developer workflows such as Git and CI/CD fundamentals.
Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment with minimal supervision.
This is a hybrid internship role based in Boston or New York City.
Spring term: 10–20 hours per week
Summer term: Full-time
Internship duration: March 7, 2026, through August 15, 2026
Work is performed through a combination of remote execution and in-person collaboration, including scheduled working sessions, planning meetings, and build/review checkpoints aligned with project needs and academic commitments.
The anticipated base compensation range for this role is $24.00-$26.00 per hour. This range represents a good-faith estimate of the base compensation we expect to pay for this role at the time of hire.
Actual base salary within this range will be determined based on job-related factors, including skills, level of experience, geographic work location, and any required licenses or certifications, in accordance with applicable law.
