The Role:

As a SoFi UX Research Intern, you’ll join a dynamic, collaborative team of researchers that play a pivotal role in shaping product strategy and driving user-centered decision making across the business. You will partner closely with other members of the research team, in addition to Product Managers, Designers, and Product Marketers. You will conduct exploratory, formative, and evaluative research studies to help your partners make informed and confident decisions. With the support of the research team, you will plan, lead, and socialize your research projects and findings. 

The candidate must be available for the entire internship period: 

Cohort 1: Monday, June 1st, 2026 to Friday, August 21st, 2026
Cohort 2:
Monday, June 15th, 2026 to Friday, September 4th, 2026

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Marketers to identify research topics and plan research initiatives

  • Design and manage qualitative and/or quantitative research projects end-to-end: develop research plans, recruitment screeners and discussion guides, conduct member and/or prospect interviews, analyze data, and write up your research findings and recommendations

  • Utilize a variety of research methods including user interviews, usability tests, and surveys

  • Share out your research findings in a number of presentations with different groups of partners and stakeholders

  • Participate in Design Reviews, giving and soliciting member-centric feedback

  • Partner with and learn from other talented members of SoFi's Research team

What You’ll Need:

  • Enrolled in an accredited US-based university (working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027

  • Must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship

  • Have no more than 12 months of professional full-time work experience (excluding internships and research assistant roles)

  • Must be willing to relocate to San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work in the San Francisco HQ office

  • Relevant coursework in a variety of research methods, such as lab and field research, survey design, statistical analysis, etc.

  • Must be organized and able to manage research projects

  • Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and communicate ideas visually, verbally, and in writing

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience in research tools, including statistical and/or programming applications (e.g., Qualtrics, UserZoom, SQL, Tableau, SPSS)

  • Previous research experience from research companies, agile start-up technology companies, and/or fin-tech companies

  • Passionate about personal finance and technology

  • Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, and Information Science majors preferred

Pay range: $40.00 - $50.00

Payment frequency: Hourly
