Around 15 years ago, I used to host a film club in my office. Every month nearly 100 odd folks who loved film and made films used to come together, to watch and deconstruct the craft of filmmaking.

One of the things that stood out was that much of their decisions was based on gut instinct. No data. Just intuition and hope.

With a background from software where we measure everything, it felt very odd. Over years, that turned into conviction.
