Backend Engineer, Pathfinders

We are one of the fastest-growing podcast & audiobook platforms in Europe and we are now looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our Community team. The Pathfinders squad at Podimo is seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer with some Frontend experience who takes full ownership of their work — from feature inception to completion — and excels in cross-squad collaboration. We're looking for someone who is open to feedback, eager to grow, and willing to share insights constructively.

Your main responsibilities in this role:

• Work on high-quality feature implementation in Kotlin, build prototypes, resolve issues, and profile and analyze bottlenecks

• Design robust APIs to support mobile and desktop clients

• Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud

• Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met, and allow for regression testing

• Participate in technical discussions with your peers

Experience we’re looking for:

• You have 3+ years of experience in Kotlin / Java or any other JVM-language

• You have some experience developing Frontend in TypeScript and React.js

• You have good experience using Spring Boot and experience in developing REST APIs

• You have strong OOP knowledge

• You have experience in using PostgreSQL or any other relational database

• You have experience in using PubSub, Kafka or similar messaging solutions

• You have some experience/are willing to working with containers and utilizing tools like Kubernetes

• You have some experience/are willing to work with Async programming

• You have good communication skills in English as this is our company language across our markets

• Having knowledge or experience with GraphQL is a benefit

• Experience in designing and developing microservices is an advantage

• Knowledge of financial domain is an advantage

Naturally, being passionate and knowledgeable about podcasts, audio content, media, and entertainment is a big plus!
