Software Engineer - Python

What you need to know about the role This is a Software Engineer role with Venmo Payments team. The team is responsible for implementing next generation payment system to support all Venmo transaction traffic. The team drives business critical services with 99.999% availability while maintaining a customer focused approach. The engineer would drive and own mission critical solutions. We are looking for technologists with the highest levels of technical talent, programming, and communication skills. Essential Responsibilities:

• Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff

• Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures

• Understands internal standards & processes an applies them to make technical decisions

• Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions

• May contribute to code & design reviews

Expected Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Own the solutions that you build.On call support is a critical part of the job.

• Own the deployment of the built service. Successful deployment and monitoring of the services is owned by the team.

What do you need to Bring 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. 

• 2+ years of backend development experience. Strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures. 

• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python) 

• Proficiency in backend development using Python frameworks, with experience in technologies such as frameworks like Django and Flask. 

• Strong understanding of web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards 

• Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL) 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems. 

• Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations. 

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). 

• Contributions to open-source projects.
