About this Opportunity
Join our London-based News Broadcasting product team as a customer-centric Product Designer. You will collaborate with product managers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders across the business. Your key responsibility will be to influence product roadmaps and drive the discovery process to continuously improve our digital products.
Driving digital innovation, our people create award-winning national radio, local radio, and podcasts which are must-listens for millions across the UK, Ireland and beyond. News Broadcasting is the UK's most digital broadcaster with 86% combined digital listening share, complementing its market-leading scale on visual platforms. The group contains the UK national brands of talkSPORT, Virgin Radio UK, Times Radio, Talk and Onic radio stations in Ireland, including Dublin’s FM104, Cork’s 96fm and Limerick’s Live 95.
The News Broadcasting product team looks after all digital products for Virgin radio, TalkSPORT, TalkRadio, and Times Radio as well as for our radio stations in Ireland. The core team is continuously working on projects with the aim of delivering best-in-class digital solutions, boosting competitiveness, and being the leading content provider of world-class audio content.
As a Product Designer, you will work closely with other team members to create new features and product enhancements that continuously improve the News Broadcasting product set. Your role will be pivotal to ensure that our ideas are reflective of the specific News Broadcasting brand and are brought to life to test with customers and excite stakeholders.
You’ll have a passion for design & technology. You’ll be hands-on and willing to work in a fast-paced, ever-moving environment. You’ll keep up-to-date with the latest advances in technology, design trends, and tooling.
Follow our UXD process and be an advocate for the way we work
Champion testing methodologies and ensure all projects are validated with users
Ideate and create deliverables, scamps, and interactive prototypes
Continuously look for data and any insights to back up decision-making
Work with the team to build out journeys at lo-fidelity all the way through to prototypes to better visualise products and features, for user research, stakeholder communications, and for development teams
Continuously being the voice of the customer and thoroughly testing everything we do to eradicate assumptions
Work closely with colleagues within the wider UX&D teams to ensure learnings are being shared across the board so there's awareness of projects
Ensure the conceptual designs balance customer and business goals
Champion modular design, usability, and accessibility standards
Work in a fast-paced environment and be able to work across multiple projects at one time
Continuously problem-solve and want to gain a deeper understanding of our customers
Stay abreast of innovations in UX best practices, tools, and topics of interest to the community and help infuse them back into the team
What we’re looking for from you:
Experience working across web, mobile web, and native apps
Experience in working in collaborative environments alongside other disciplines
Experience working end-to-end from experience strategy to finished UI.
Knowledge of and practical experience working with and contributing to design systems.
Strong ideation skills and the ability to form these into solid validated concepts
Strong experience in various testing methodologies.
Capable of working in a fast past environment to tight timescales
Experience working with senior-level stakeholders
Creative and conceptual thinker
Advanced prototyping skills; experience in one of the following - Figma, InVision, Flinto, Principle etc.
Strong presentation skills; story-telling with every project with documentation where necessary
Ability to communicate and articulate design decisions to the team and stakeholders
Ability to manage time well and respond to time constraints accordingly
Relationship building and stakeholder management
Previous experience or an interest in news and publishing would be an advantage.
