Department Overview

The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Observability Engineer with expertise in Elastic and Prometheus to join our observability team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving our systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively.

Basic Requirements

Must have:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 1+ years of professional experience

• Proven experience with Elastic, Prometheus, and other observability tools

• Strong understanding of cloud systems architecture and infrastructure

• Experience with scripting or any language (e.g., Python, Bash, NodeJS)

• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Expertise in building high scale systems

• Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn

Good to have:

• Knowledge of security best practices

• Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning

• Good understanding of CI/CD frameworks

• Certification in relevant observability tools
