Product Designer

About the role

As a Product Designer at Flex, you'll solve problems for a diverse community of people who are underserved by existing financial products. You'll support projects from end-to-end, beginning by exploring opportunities, and ultimately delivering solutions that improve the lives of Americans who might be experiencing financial hardship. Your design chops will be put to use across the full design lifecycle: from research & discovery, to diverging and converging on solutions, to prototyping and refining visual design details. But you won't do this alone! You'll work alongside product managers, software engineers, and data analysts, with feedback and support from your fellow designers.

This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program

What you’ll do

• Lead design efforts for consumer-facing fintech products and features

• Own the design process from beginning to end: leading discovery and research, ideation & exploration, visual design & prototyping, production and engineering handoff

• Identify customer needs through quantitative and qualitative research and existing data

• Solicit feedback from and provide feedback to collaborators in order to maintain quality and consistency in digital experiences

• Help refine our Design System, Ultraviolet, by building out new components 

• Collaborate closely with product management, software engineers, and stakeholders

Key qualifications

• 2+ years experience designing and shipping software solutions for consumer-facing digital experiences

• Comfort documenting and explaining your process and rationale behind design decisions, including leveraging data and research to inform decision-making

• Demonstrated aptitude for getting things done to make your team successful – being willing to wear different hats when necessary

• Experience designing native mobile apps (iOS and Android)

• Experience working with design systems and integrating them into the product development and engineering processes

• Deep knowledge of design software (though we formally use Figma as a team) and interactive prototyping software (Principle, Framer, or Origami)

• Comfort with ambiguous problems

• Motivation to be a self-starter

• Passion for financial products and improving people’s financial lives

• A portfolio of work detailing your contributions to shipped solutions

  
  

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $141,000 - $157,000
